Spread the Love Tour...and the winner is...ME!
First off I want to say how wonderful it has been networking and reaching out to others. I had been focusing all my attention on something so not photography-related for such a long time, and since finding and discovering what photography has to offer me it's been like a dream. And to make things even better is not only connecting with other photographers through websites, blogs, facebook and twitter but to actually have a chance to meet up with them and have a more personal relationship than just through the web that is so awesome.
And speaking of awesome, enter Kia Gregory. I first saw her post on the [b]school. One of the best sites for photographers out there - mainly catering to wedding photographers but if you have questions or need advice on your photography buisness it's the place to be. Kia had great advice and I realized she was local - and when I say 'local' I mean not in Tennesse or Texas - she lives in Ca.
I have read time and time again about fabulous workshops and gatherings I would just love to attend, but unfortunately being a newbie establishing her business the $ isn't there yet so those workshops will just have to wait...until my friend Kia came up with her fabulous give away, a ticket to the Spread the Love workshop in SF.
The Spread the Love Tour is more than just a photography workshop, as the two founders of the tour (Justine and Mary Marantz) explain, it's more of a life-building workshop.
"Spread the Love is not a photography specific workshop. It's a LIFE workshop. So anyone in a service based industry or who works for themselves could attend!! The whole idea is to show you how to build a business that works for you (rather than always the other way around) so you can get back to having a life again. Seriously, when was the last time you felt like you had a life outside of your business? So we focus a lot on building up your business, but we'll also dig into things like building your financial house, taking care of yourself and your relationships with the people you love, and giving back to the bigger picture. It's the feel good movie of the year!!"
And with Kia's giveaway in front of me, I did what any sane person would do - I responded to her post.
AND I WON!
I'm just a little excited and can not wait till February 8th rolls around and I can meet Kia (in person), eat some good food in the city, attend what I'm sure is going to be a life-changing workshop and have an all round fabulous day.
Because it's not specifically a 'photography' workshop, I may not have any photos from there, but I will however bring the camera with me into the city - I can not wait to post the pics I take there. I love San Francisco!

Children's portraits - on location Fort Bragg, CA
The sun wasn't out, it was rainy and overcast outside...I pulled out my diffuser and went to work anyway!

Children's portraits - on location Fort Bragg, CA
I'm working out some post-processing glitches - but I have managed to get a few through and able to show them off. I'm not using photoshop anymore, just an old standby online editor tools and I don't care for them. I will get photoshop back - and SOON! But until then I am happy with these results. Enjoy!

Gracie Barra Rohnert Park Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Northern California
For the past year my husband has attended Gracie Barra Rohnert Park Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu facility. Because we live about 2 1/2 hours north of the facility, he can usually only get in about once a week (although during his vacation he was getting in about twice). It's a great facility and he loves it there (despite the long commute!) and has been wanting me to get in and take a few shots.

Railroad Square - Santa Rosa, Ca
We usually go over to Santa Rosa/Ronart Park on Saturdays (click here to see why). When I flipped through the most recent issue of The Knot they did a focus article on Sonoma County beautiful spots for outdoor portraits. Albeit meant for engagement photos - I took advantage of the beautiful setting and did a photoshoot while in town. Here are a few of the photographs from that shoot.

Fix it Friday from I ♥ Faces - #40
Today is Fix-it Friday over at my most favorite blogsites I ♥ Faces. The fix-it pic is of a Birthday boy blowing out his candles. Not a whole lot of fixin' needed to be done to this photo. I did try straightening it out a bit but then lost too much of the background. I threw this pic into the online photo editing site picnik and did a little cropping, sharpening, changed the tone a bit and did a little vignetting. I enjoy using picnik for quicky little projects like this - Enjoy!
For more Fix-it Friday fixes on this cute little boy, head back over to I ♥ Faces.

Going down to the harbor
I have lived in this town my whole life (minus two years while my husband was stationed back East from 98 to 2000) and have NEVER taken a single photograph of the harbor. We are, in fact, living right next to the ocean. Since the photography bug bit me I am 'rediscovering' my town - and am lovin' every minute of it!
Gotta get two in of my daughter...
whether she liked it...
or not.

I ♥ Faces "Theme" week 1
Over at one of my most favorite blogs, I ♥ Faces - it's theme week (in honor of their 1st Birthday!). I've been thinking about ways to incorporate their logo and what better way to celebrate their Birthday than with a gigantic pancake!Oh, and a picture of my dog, Jack.
for the legal department... “I am submitting this photo into the I Heart Faces logo photo contest. By entering, I am granting I Heart Faces LLC permission to consider my photo for use in the marketing and promotion of their website.”
are all over here...

Because we live on an island...
Every once in a while I like to get out of town, BY MYSELF. This is not too much to ask and I don't do it to inconvenience anyone. I just need to Breath. Think. Be. And now, since my eyesight has been taken over by what I can only describe as a lens from a camera, I had to stop several times and snap a few shots on the way out and the way back home.

A couple more from the gardens
I have pulled a few more out from our trip to the local Botanical Gardens. It's just too bad this time of year it's so gray and blah right now because I'm craving bright, vibrant colors BIG TIME! I'm working on my sun flare and back lit pictures, but being the novice that I am, it's definitely a work in progress...

A little late...Fix it Friday from I ♥ Faces
I'm having fun learning Photoshop...and over at one of my most favorite blogs called I ♥ Faces they have what they called Fix it Friday. I grabbed a photo from what I thought was a current Fix it Friday (it was from October! oh well) and did some of my own work to it, plus I'm a sucker for tulle...

About Me
- Tammie
- Northern Ca, United States
- Your experience with me will not just be as simple as a 1/2 hours photo shoot - it will be more, it will be a complete experience from beginning to end - it's not just about the photographs (although a very important part of the process!) - it's the star treatment you will get, the attention I will give you and the feeling of happiness I share with you. My goal is not to just take a couple of nice pictures of you and send you on your way, I truly want to give you an experience that you cherish forever and have the photographs to remember it by.
